OCAD Sketch redesign OCAD University (OCADU) is undergoing some major changes – among the most notable is its new name. H&W and OCADU’s communication team felt that to reflect this change, Sketch magazine would require a bit of an overhaul. H&W has worked on OCADU’s alumni magazine for close to six years, and in that time the editorial content has been realigned to match the constant growth of the school. The current redesign began with implementing a stronger grid system, making it more flexible and allowing the content to shine. The typographic hierarchy was simplified but given more editorial flare, making the magazine warmer and more exciting. These two important revisions opened up more space for photography and art, allowing them to be the centre of attention. See the OCAD program >> |

| C2 Design Park H&W recently created a visual identity for North American Development Group’s latest commercial venture, C2 Design Park. This new development offers retail building lots and commercial condo units to companies and services catering to the design community. Located in the heart of Toronto’s home decor hub, C2 Design Park takes its name from the bordering intersection of Castlefield Avenue and Caledon Road. Encircled within the visual identity, the C and 2 intersect to create a focal point or hub. See more identities >> |

Precedent magazine H&W is pleased to announce that we are now designing the quarterly magazine Precedent – Ontario’s first independent legal magazine for young lawyers. In the Summer 2010 issue, the magazine introduced the Precedent Setter Awards, recognizing lawyers called to the bar in the last 10 years who demonstrate excellence and leadership in their practices and in their communities. Images of the award winners were photographed by Margaret Mulligan, who confesses that the success of her portrait of Joseph Cheng and his son Alexander (shown here) is, in large part, a result of her latest photographic accessory – a kazoo!
