ORANGE
The United Kingdom’s National Farmer’s Union has warned that due to economic hardships, there has been an increase in the crime of sheep rustling. As a result, some farmers have taken to painting their flocks orange to discourage thieves. A typical healthy sheep is worth around CDN $250. The non-toxic dye does not harm the sheep and it eventually wears off. Baa, baa orange sheep, have you any wool?

Quadrangle Identity Quadrangle Identity
2011 was a busy year for Quadrangle Architects. Not only did they celebrate 25 years in business, they also underwent a refresh of their visual identity. During a thorough identity audit, H&W studied the mark from many different directions and realized that the most important element was the "quadrangle" – which we realigned and injected with a vibrant green. Quadrangle felt confident in detaching the word "Architects" in the majority of applications and with a clean, minimal approach to the typography, we created a refreshed identity that, we hope, will stand for the next quarter century.

Ryerson FCAD Trans|forms
Each year, the work of the Ryerson Faculty of Communications & Design’s students, faculty, and alumni continue to garner public praise and recognition well beyond the boundaries of the classroom and the university. Ryerson was looking for a new partner and a fresh direction for this annual publication, which is an opportunity to highlight many of FCAD’s achievements to a broad community base – to its public, private and industry partners; to potential donors; to alumni; and to other academic institutions around the world. H&W worked closely with Ryerson and Fineline Writers to reinvent the annual from the ground up – looking to more fully integrate word and image in order to better reflect the faculty’s mandate. Bold colour and octagon-based patterning were used to represent the interconnectivity of eight FCAD departments as well as thematic wayfinding.
